Shalaundra “Shailaun” Manning…
is an African-American singer-songwriter, actress and model from Arlington, Texas. For as long as she can remember, she has been an artist and has always been connected to all things music. Her distinct and unique style derives from many musical influences and genres from her roots in Gospel, to R&B, to Electronic, to her now Sophisti-Pop platform. Her soul stirring music speaks across cultures and generations with smooth, sultry sounds in alto reminiscent of Sade fused with the lyrical stylings of India Arie. Shailaun creates tunes with an internal desire to heal and encourage herself and the world around her.
Shailaun (pronounced shy-lawn) had her first major singing opportunity in 2004 where she sang the Negro national anthem for the Lincoln and Lawrence D. Bell high school Black History Month program. In February of 2005, she received that opportunity again with Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas. After graduating from Sam Houston high in 2006, Shailaun began pursuing a career in modeling, working with industry giants such as Michael Buble, Empire of the Sun, Fossil and Southwest Airlines.
However, music remained her outlet; as many of her songs were formed from her experiences during this journey. Since the fall of 2012 Shailaun has been recording and performing her music on stages throughout the US and Spain from Elastic Arts (Chicago), Sandaga 813 (Dallas), Cheer Up Charlie’s (Austin) and Soul Station (Madrid). Additionally, Shailaun has made appearances for major community events such as the 41st “Original” MLK Jr. Parade in Houston, Texas.
In January 2019, Shailaun released her smooth and sultry R&B single “Au Naturale” to the world. This release is a prelude to more of her highly-anticipated music (release dates TBA). Shailaun has opened for R&B sensation Mario, and songstress Vivian Green in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio, TX venues. Shailaun is a May 2019 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, represented by Kim Dawson Agency in Dallas, and is an independent artist.
